The Bank of Russia has included Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether (USDT) in the registry of cryptocurrencies approved for public trading on domestic exchanges, the regulator announced on its Telegram channel. Based on these criteria, the list of cryptocurrencies available for public trading on exchanges includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether (USDT)," the statement reads. The Bank of Russia has also capped cryptocurrency purchases for retail (non-qualified) investors at 300,000 rubles ($3,632) per year. According to the regulator, to protect retail (non-qualified) investors from sharp and unpredictable volatility in cryptocurrency prices, only the most liquid digital assets will be available to them. Meanwhile, qualified investors will be able to purchase any cryptocurrencies traded on exchange and over-the-counter markets without restrictions.
