Thirty-six wasted years: PM blames predecessors as drought exposes climate failures
['Attila Leitner']
The Budapest Times
The previous political elite deliberately neglected climate protection and climate change, the Prime Minister said on Monday in a pre-agenda address to the National Assembly.
The Prime Minister said that a ministerial address opening with the words climate change, water scarcity, and climate change might seem unique and novel.
The prime minister stressed that the entire state administration needs to be rebuilt, as Hungary is not prepared for crises of this kind.
The prime minister accused the previous government of having taken no steps in recent years to prevent the economic and energy-related consequences of similar crises.
According to the prime minister, water management and energy policy have been marked by decades of backwardness and inaction on the part of governments in recent years.
