Irvinestown struggled to find the accuracy they needed from their shooting and, despite a couple of scores, the Gaels were largely untroubled. Further points from Tommy McCaffrey, Barry McCann, Ryder, and Rooney sent the Belleek men into the break five points clear. Dan, Jack, and Barry McCann kept the Gaels in the game but further scoring from Irvinestown, including a great two from McDermott, kept the visitors in the driving seat.
