It has been reported that the Iraqi prime minister has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge an official protest. The Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) emphasized that these actions targeted Iraq’s recognized security institutions. In November 2016, Iraq’s parliament sanctioned legislation conferring full legal recognition to the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) fighters.
