NATIONAL GOVERNMENT infrastructure and other capital outlays are projected to decline 15.1% to P931.54 billion this year before recovering slightly in 2027, although they will remain below the P1-trillion level.
According to the 2027 Budget of Expenditures and Sources of Financing, this year’s infrastructure and other capital outlays are expected to decline from P1.1 trillion in 2025.
For 2027, infrastructure and other capital outlays are projected to increase 4.6% to P974.48 billion.
In the first five months, infrastructure and other capital outlays fell by 42.9% to P269.4 billion from P471.5 billion in the same period a year earlier.
Mr. Asuncion said weaker public capital spending could weigh slightly on economic activity this year, particularly in construction and related industries.
