LENORE – A search is continuing for a Peck man who is missing and presumed drowned after he disappeared in the Clearwater River near a beach at the Lenore rest stop along U.S. Highway 12. The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man as Joseph Wren. “Based on witness statements and the circumstances surrounding the incident, authorities believe (Wren) may have drowned,” according to a news release issued Saturday night by the sheriff’s office. “At this time, however, he remains missing and search and recovery are ongoing.” “Later (they) heard him calling for help and noticed he was out in the current and attempted to get some logs to him to help him stay afloat because the water is really swift out there,” Dupea said.
