Cleveland embraces deeper isolation Newsnorman lebrecht August 11, 2026The embattled Cleveland Institute of Music has just severed half a century of academic affiliation with Case Western Reserve University. The decision has been driven by CIM’s president and CEO Paul Hogle (pic), who ordered a walkout of the last meeting with Case Western. CIM also will no longer use some auxiliary services CWRU previously offered to CIM students. There will be no disruption to the continuity of CWRU music students’ academics. However, we are confident you will continue to provide the exceptional educational environment for which Case Western Reserve is known.
