China's Long March 7A rocket failed shortly after liftoff from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan on Aug. 10, destroying the rocket and its ChinaSat-4B payload in an in-flight anomaly. The Long March 7A is designed for medium-lift missions to higher orbits and is a variant of the Long March 7 family. The Long March 5 is a different rocket from the Long March 7A. However, any investigation that identifies a problem involving components, manufacturing processes or launch-site operations could have wider implications for China's launch schedule.
