GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen is reportedly considering ditching the $56 billion takeover of eBay, with other suggestions in play for it. Back in early May, GameStop formally offered to acquire eBay, with CEO Ryan Cohen laying out his plan for the move after a few days of rumors and speculation about a possible bid for the platform. GameStop offered to pay $125 per share, using a mix of cash and stock, and would use eBay to expand its core business of gaming retail. GameStop might drop eBay bidNow, however, Cohen is reportedly considering dropping the deal and shifting to a partnership with eBay instead. The report, which comes from Bloomberg, states that the GameStop CEO “is considering proposing a partnership or joint venture that would enable eBay to leverage GameStop’s roughly 1,600 US retail locations.”
