Marcos studying village, youth polls delay

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. will first review legislative proposals before deciding whether to postpone the scheduled village and youth polls, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
At a news briefing, Palace Press Officer Clarissa A. Castro said Mr. Marcos needs to examine the details of the measures first.
“We cannot immediately agree, the President cannot agree or disagree until he sees why this kind of proposal is needed and why the elections need to be postponed,” she told a news briefing in Filipino.
The village and youth elections are scheduled for Nov. 2, as the Commission on Elections proceeds with preparations despite recent proposals in Congress to extend the terms of incumbents, which would effectively delay the polls if okayed.
