Qatar supports any agreements that will ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz and prevent its use as an instrument of political pressure, said Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari. "We in the state of Qatar support any formula of mutual understanding that guarantees the security of the strait and that it will not turn into an instrument of political pressure in the future," he said at a briefing. On August 8, Oman's Foreign Ministry said that negotiations with Iran on shipping arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz were taking place in a positive and constructive atmosphere. On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the parties were nearing an agreement on the legal aspects of managing the strait and defining new routes. US Vice President JD Vance also noted progress in indirect contacts with Iran, adding that Washington is working to maximize energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.
