The newly-built Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF) shared research facility will help Rosatom meet strategic goals in developing new materials and nuclear medicine, the state corporation’s Director General Alexey Likhachev told TASS. "We see SKIF as a platform for meeting our strategic objectives. Our focus will be to study the structure of melts and phase transitions, which are critically important for materials science," he said. It will enable us to conduct research into the closed nuclear fuel cycle, new materials and radiochemical processes, as well as nuclear medicine. This is a direct contribution to the future of the nuclear industry and the country’s technological sovereignty," Likhachev added.
