The facility, located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan, is BP’s last unionized oil refinery in the United States.
On the other side is an oil company that brought in $189.2 billion in revenue in 2025.
Especially in an oil refinery, it's a very niche market.
An incident that spirals out of control inside of an oil refinery is highly likely to affect the community.
