Egyptian security forces rescued a man who livestreamed on Facebook while allegedly being held inside the back of a refrigerated truck after being kidnapped by two brothers over a financial dispute, the Ministry of Interior said on Monday, August 10. The ministry said authorities investigated a video circulating on social media showing the man inside the truck, where he could be heard calling for help from security forces. Preliminary investigations indicated that the kidnapping stemmed from a financial dispute involving the victim’s brother, who had allegedly obtained goods from the two merchants without paying for them. The kidnapped man was rescued, and the two suspects reportedly confessed during questioning to abducting him over the financial dispute. Legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects, according to the Ministry of Interior.
