The labor group issued the call following the issuance of DoLE Administrative Order No. TUCP said the order largely reiterates existing mechanisms and fails to address what it described as the urgent need for wage increases amid extraordinary socioeconomic conditions. The group asked Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to recognize the current conditions as grounds for accelerating wage determination across regions. It also questioned expanded exemption mechanisms for micro, small, and medium enterprises, saying these could delay wage increases. TUCP urged DoLE to declare a “supervening event” and move wage boards toward immediate increases nationwide.
