Carpino is focused on the public health response and building partnerships among researchers, healthcare providers, community organizations and public health agencies. But, he added, “I’m optimistic we can work in partnership with our public health leaders to address these challenges.” Connecting Research and Public HealthPeterson, a fifth-year postdoc, sees her role as communicating the science to epidemiologists and public health professionals. Duke's team believes that answering those questions will require close collaboration among laboratory science, clinical medicine and public health.
