The ABS says people can complete their Census early if they know where everyone in their household will be on Census night. Everyone in Australia on Census night must be included on a Census form, including visitors and visa holders. For the Census income question, the ABS says people should include income from all sources before tax and other automatic deductions. It says identifiable Census information is not shared with other government departments or direct marketing companies, and Census information isn’t used for compliance or enforcement. People can also voluntarily choose to have their Census information preserved by the National Archives of Australia for 99 years as part of the Census Time Capsule.
