A chance encounter at Singapore’s Warhammer store inspired the North London Collegiate School Singapore student to create Singapore’s first alliance connecting model-making and tabletop gaming clubs across international schools. For 17-year-old Guanhong Song, a student at North London Collegiate School Singapore, hobbies are not something to enjoy alone. Through Games Workshop, the company behind Warhammer, the club had received starter paints and miniatures as part of a program supporting school-based tabletop gaming and model-making clubs. The idea evolved into the ‘Singapore Alliance of Model Making’, a student-led network connecting model-making and tabletop gaming clubs across Singapore, allowing students to share resources, organize events, and learn from one another. In August 2025, more than 9,000 people attended TableCon Quest, the country’s largest tabletop gaming convention, underscoring the hobby’s growing popularity.
