GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks School Board on Monday approved a tax incentive for a proposed development project at Ray Richards Golf Course.
The board voted 5-4 to advance the project, paving the way for upcoming votes by the Grand Forks City Council and Grand Forks County Commission.
ADVERTISEMENT“This has been a difficult decision because I see both sides of the issue,” School Board President JoNell Bakke said.
At present, Ray Richards Golf Course doesn't generate property tax revenue, since it's owned by a public entity.
“The Ray Richards Golf Course is a longstanding, unique recreational feature that benefits the whole community,” said Miranda Kleven, wife of School Board member Jay Kleven.
