Hong Kong’s privacy watchdog has arrested a man on suspicion of doxxing a former restaurant owner and a business consultant following a financial dispute over unpaid bills. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data said on Tuesday that the suspect, a 37-year-old wholesale food businessman, allegedly disclosed the personal data of two victims without their consent. The watchdog said its investigation found that the suspect became acquainted with the male restaurant operator through the female consultant’s firm in March 2025. The suspect subsequently supplied frozen meat to the now-closed restaurant between March and May last year. A monetary dispute later arose between the suspect and the operator following a payment default, and the two parties were unable to reach an agreement.
