Hunter08/11/26The Johnson County Board of Supervisors is working to approve a fund to help prevent local evictions. The Press-Citizen reports the agreement with Shelter House would give the non-profit access to a $100,000 fund to help renters in eviction court. Landlords would need to agree to dismiss the eviction proceedings in order to receive payment. The agreement is an extension of monies appropriated between 2023 to 2026 using American Rescue Plan Act dollars. The funding has since run out, prompting the county to extend the program using county funds.
