According to a broadcast by WCVB Channel 5 Boston, the Marlborough Fire Department arrived at a horrific scene spanning all three lanes of the eastbound highway. “The fire department says the two victims were ejected from that white SUV on I-290 eastbound,” the WCVB anchor reported, confirming that both occupants of the white vehicle were tragically pronounced dead. A second vehicle, a black SUV, was also involved in the collision and ended up off the roadway in the grassy median. First responders also made a surprising discovery in the wreckage of the white SUV: two dogs had been riding inside. Speaking with WCVB reporters at the scene, Marlborough Fire Department Battalion Chief John Ayotte emphasized the hazards of the exit.
