The public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Kenitra said on Saturday that 17 suspects have been brought before the judiciary following violent unrest earlier this week in the Sidi Taibi district, in Kenitra. According to the prosecutor, the suspects are charged with offenses that “threatened public safety and order,” including theft, assault, arson, and vandalism of public and private property during Wednesday night’s clashes. Prosecutors have requested an official investigation into four adults suspected of criminal offenses, as well as seven minors facing similar allegations. The remaining six suspects, four adults and two minors, were referred to the public prosecutor at the Kenitra Court of First Instance. The violence in Sidi Taibi was part of a broader wave of unrest that took place across several cities, including Agadir, Marrakech, and Oujda.
