The operation was initiated following information received concerning possible acts of human trafficking and other related offenses taking place at the establishment. After speaking with the women some of them declared themselves victims of human trafficking based on some irregularities that have been taking place. Human trafficking and human smuggling remain serious concerns throughout the Caribbean region. KPSM emphasizes that combating human trafficking requires cooperation between law enforcement authorities, government agencies, community organizations and the public. Anyone who has information concerning human trafficking, human smuggling, or the exploitation of persons on Sint Maarten is encouraged to contact KPSM at +1 721-542-2222 or anonymously through the KPSM Tip Line at 9300.
