Gathemangal, also known as Ghantakarna Chaturdashi, is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich festivals celebrated across the Kathmandu Valley and Newar settlements throughout Nepal. Observed annually on Shrawan Krishna Chaturdashi (falling between July and August), the festival marks a community-wide effort to ward off evil spirits, bidding farewell to demonic forces, and ushering in the grand festive season. Iron Rings: People wear iron rings (Nakarmi-crafted iron bands) for several days following the festival to shield themselves from evil spirits.
