Trump made the remarks on social media on Tuesday as Infantino faces increasing criticism from major continental football confederations over a controversial commercial proposal that has since been abandoned.
The confederations accused the FIFA president of undermining trust through what they described as “deception” surrounding the proposed commercial structure.
Trump praises Infantino ahead of World CupDespite the criticism directed at Infantino, Trump said FIFA would be making a serious mistake if it considered replacing him.
“FIFA would be making a terrible mistake if, for any reason, they even considered replacing president Gianni Infantino,” Trump said.
