The Woodward Opera House will feature local historian and Civil War reenactor Fred Main for its next Coffee Cup program on Aug. 11. Main will share stories from his years as a Civil War reenactor, including experiences at Gettysburg and historic locations throughout Ohio. Main has participated in reenactments that provided firsthand insight into the uniforms, equipment, routines, physical demands, and daily lives of Civil War soldiers. His involvement in Civil War history also has extended beyond reenactments and into preservation efforts, including work with the Mount Vernon camp of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Main's presentation will draw on his years of studying and portraying Civil War history, offering attendees a perspective shaped by participation in historical reenactments and preservation projects.
