Hitachi Rail has commissioned new electronic signalling systems at Ciulnița and Fetești railway stations in Romania as part of infrastructure modernisation work carried out for CFR SA.
At Ciulnița, the new signalling system entered service in December 2025, followed by commissioning at Fetești in June 2026.
It also replaces the SELMIS platform, which has been used across Romania’s railway network for more than 20 years.
Claudiu Seicean, CEO of Hitachi Rail in Romania, said: At Hitachi Rail, we believe the future of rail transport relies on smart technologies and strong partnerships.
This project reaffirms our commitment to a high-performing, digital, and interoperable railway system aligned with European standards.
