No new candidates took advantage of a reopened filing period for the Wilson County Board of Education race. The filing period officially ended at noon Monday, Aug. 10, after the filing period was prematurely closed and then reopened in July. However, state law required the filing period to be open through “the second Monday in August of the year of the election.” In total, 10 candidates will face off for four seats on the school board on Nov. 3. Christine Fitch, District 3 representative, and Rhyan Breen, District 7 representative, did not seek reelection to the board.
