The Knox County Board of Commissioners gave the go ahead during its Aug. 4 meeting to continue investigating if the existing county water/wastewater administrative building could be repurposed as a county morgue.
County Administrator Jason Booth told the board that he had visited the current water and wastewater office to assess its suitability for conversion, according to a video recording of the meeting.
"We did go out to the existing water and wastewater office and check on potentially turning that into a board, as we discussed last week.
He also updated commissioners on progress with a transit project, projecting completion by late October or Nov. 1.
All updates were presented during regular proceedings as part of ongoing efforts by Knox County officials to address infrastructure needs.
