With Canada now the second-largest global market, IWSR data highlights an opportunity for hard tea’s success to be replicated beyond North America. Susie Goldspink, Head of RTD Insights at IWSR, commented: “The recent trajectory of hard tea mirrors the way in which hard seltzer scaled – but tea is better understood in Europe than seltzers, suggesting that hard tea could have more potential for global growth. It is also possible that hard teas will only truly thrive in places where iced tea already performs well.” Beyond hard tea, RTD ranges are expanding to include mate- and matcha-based products, with IWSR’s RTD Innovation Catalogue identifying that hard-tea related ingredients accounted for three per cent of new RTD launches in 2025, up from two per cent in 2021. Meanwhile, opportunity is also emerging outside of RTD with tea-based liqueurs, tea-flavoured wines and spirits, and sparkling tea all finding growing relevance.
