Brightest Star in Gemini to Appear Near Crescent Moon on 11 August

Qatar Calendar House has announced that Alpha Geminorum, the brightest star in the Gemini constellation, will appear close to the waning crescent Moon of Safar during the early hours of 11 August 2026.
According to Qatar Calendar House, residents in Qatar will be able to observe the two celestial objects together with the naked eye above the eastern horizon after moonrise.
Alpha Geminorum, also known as Castor, is the brightest star in the constellation Gemini.
Qatar Calendar House said the event can be observed without the need for special equipment, weather conditions permitting.
The observation forms part of a series of astronomical events monitored and announced by Qatar Calendar House throughout the year.
