AT LEAST 2,000 people have died of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), whose current outbreak of the disease is the fastest growing on record, according to government data published today. The grim toll comes nearly three months after the outbreak was declared on May 15. The Ebola outbreak is unlike most previous ones because the rare Bundibugyo virus responsible for it has no approved vaccines or treatments. “So we are chasing the virus; the virus is ahead of us,” he added.
