Social media timelines have been filled with images of people walking through snow, building snowmen and photographing landscapes covered in white. Snowy conditions are being experienced at Den Hagen Guest Farm near Rhodes in the Eastern Cape as the winter weather continues across the region. Several mountain passes in the Eastern Cape were temporarily closed because of snow and dangerous driving conditions, including Penhoek Pass, Boesmanhoek, Barkly Pass, the R405, R415, and N9. Authorities deployed graders to clear snow from affected routes, while rescue teams assisted motorists who became trapped on Barkly Pass.
