Plans to demolish a historic former cinema in Kirkcaldy have taken a step forward.
Fife Council has submitted a planning application on behalf of the King’s Theatre for the demolition of the former ABC Cinema building on the town’s High Street.
The application follows the council’s successful bid to secure £1.5 million in funding from the Scottish Government to support the demolition and associated works.
ABC Cinema Kirkcaldy demolition plans progressMandy Hunter, Trustee of the King’s Theatre, said: “The King’s Theatre and former ABC Cinema are important parts of Kirkcaldy’s heritage, and we are pleased to be working with Fife Council to take this important step forward.
The council was forced to apologise earlier this year after letters about the demolition of the cinema went out before plans were finalised.
