Chairman John Boozman, R-Ark., is keeping the farm bill markup open for another vote after lawmakers come back in mid-September.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, the committee’s top Democrat who also is running for governor of Minnesota, said the farm bill contains strong provisions, including for corn-based ethanol.
“We encourage our members to call their congressional offices and to continue voicing their support for MCOOL in the Farm Bill.”
Boozman told reporters that it’s possible for McConnell to be back to vote when the committee is expected to resume its farm bill markup in September.
ICYMI: Without McConnell’s and Tommy Tuberville’s, R-Ala., in-person votes at Thursday’s farm bill markup, the bill was unable to advance out of committee.
