On-leave Police Minister Senzo Mchunu arranged for an Inspector-General of Intelligence (IGI) report on the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence division to be flown to an Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) investigator in the Eastern Cape, the Madlanga commission has heard. She added that the IGI had shared the report with Mchunu. Asked what provisions allowed the minister to share the report with an IDAC official, she replied, “It’s unclear. “It seemed strange to me that Minister Mchunu would be involved in this investigation, but Mr Perumal did not offer any further details regarding Minister Mchunu’s involvement in the investigation,” she alleged.
