The first tagged white shark of the Cape season is gaining fans up and down the Outer Cape, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC). According to a Boston Herald report, the 10-footer female great white named Marty, tagged during the 2026 Cape Cod season, has been active around the Upper Cape and Outer Cape. To mark Marty's presence in the Cape Cod region, AWSC and Stop & Shop created a limited-edition Shark Marty plush toy at participating Stop & Shop stores in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Members of the public can track Marty, along with dozens of other tagged white sharks in the waters off Cape Cod, by using the AWSC Sharktivity app. The Shark Marty plush has been so popular that The Shelby Report noted on Thursday, Aug. 6, that the toys are largely sold out but are available on online marketplaces such as eBay.
