The Henderson City Council has approved an $8 million renovation of the city's Animal Protection Services facility to improve animal care and support the staff and volunteers who work there. Under the plan, crews will replace kennels, upgrade aging sewer lines, and build new impound rooms for dogs and cats. The city also plans to create additional office space by repurposing an existing city building, which will house Animal Protection Officers and the Public Response Team, freeing up room inside the shelter for the expanded medical area. City officials said essential animal care will continue uninterrupted during construction, with medical staff temporarily relocated to workspace at a nearby city building. "This investment will allow Animal Protection Services to provide a safer, more efficient, and more modern facility for the animals and residents who rely on these services," she said.
