A tragedy struck on the A12 near Colchester yesterday when a car crashed with a lorry on the northbound carriageway. The road was closed for hours as the emergency services tried to save the girl following the smash at about 10.30am. Detective Inspector Mark Fraser said: ‘First and foremost, my thoughts are very much with this young child’s family and wider loved ones. One person said: ‘Such sad news my thoughts are with her family and all those involved in caring at the crash site.’
