The Topsfield Fair has announced the opening of competition entries for its 208th fair, running Oct. 2–12. Crafts and fine art submissions are due by Sept. 7, while canning entries are due by Sept. 8. Giant pumpkin entries must be entered by Sept. 18 (a weigh-off will occur on Oct. 2), and vegetable and open/youth poultry submissions are due Sept. 25. The giant pumpkin contest offers nearly $20,000 in prize money, according to fair officials. The entry deadline is Oct. 2; the pageant will take place on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
