New survey data show that youth vaping remains a widespread problem in Clark County classrooms, prompting health officials to renew calls for parents and educators to talk with young people about nicotine risks before the school year gets underway. According to the 2025 Nevada Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 31% of Clark County high school students and 17% of middle school students have tried e-cigarettes at least once. Current use is lower but still notable: 12% of high schoolers and 8% of middle schoolers reported vaping within the past 30 days. About 74% of students reported seeing e-cigarette-related content online, and researchers have linked weekly TikTok exposure to higher rates of current use. Most high schoolers who vape said they got their devices from friends or family members rather than buying them directly, and roughly 35% of Las Vegas public schools sit within 1,000 feet of a tobacco retailer, making access easier still.
