Free naloxone is becoming more widely available in Springfield as the city expands access to the medication used to rapidly reverse opioid overdoses. The first distribution boxes were installed July 31, and installation of all 14 locations was completed Aug. 4. The code can also be used to locate another source of naloxone if a distribution box is temporarily empty. The naloxone boxes are accessible 24 hours a day.
