Global Current News
Toyota Motor Corporation reported a net profit of $9.2 billion for the April to June 2026 quarter, up 76 percent from 841 billion yen in the same period a year earlier, as a weaker yen, steady hybrid demand and higher global sales revenue all moved in the automaker’s favor at once.
Sales and volume pictureToyota’s official results, released August 4, show the automaker recorded a net profit of 1.48 trillion yen ($9.2 billion) in the April to June period, while quarterly sales rose 10 percent year on year to 13.5 trillion yen ($84.5 billion).
The yen’s outsized contributionA favorable currency effect added 345 billion yen ($2.2 billion) to Toyota’s quarterly operating profit in the April to June period.
That intervention arrived in what Toyota counts as its fiscal second quarter, meaning the currency boost in the reported period was largely unaffected.
Hybrid strength underpinning resultsThe quarterly profit reflects a broader strategic bet that has been paying off across Toyota’s lineup.
