Bezos will simply be the most obvious, glitzy and unapologetic of the stream of millionaires and billionaires who have wanted to be part of this extraordinary club. The rise in the Amazon share price over two days in August made Bezos roughly that sum. Glory might be harder to come by than money for Bezos and, however it is funded, glory has been the only yardstick by which Liverpool has judged its millionaires.
