You have a couple of weeks left to see Trafalgar Square’s current fourth plinth artwork before it’s swapped over for the next occupant. Called Mil Veces un Instante (A Thousand Times in an Instant), the sculpture by Mexican artist Teresa Margolles represents the many trans and non-binary people who suffer persecution worldwide. It will be on the fourth plinth until 23rd August 2026, after which it will be removed to make space for New York based artist Tschabalala Self’s sculpture of a young woman in blue, which is being unveiled on 10th September. It also means that between about late August and early September, there’s a chance to see the fourth plinth in what is now quite a rare state – minus any artwork. The Fourth Plinth is funded by the Mayor of London with support from Arts Council England and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
