FIVE grassroots women’s and girls’ football clubs have received £5,000 of funding to support the growth of the game. ScottishPower, the title sponsor of the Highlands and Islands League and partner with Scottish Women’s Football (SWF), has provided the funding grant. ScottishPower’s brand director Julie Keough said that the grassroots clubs in the highlands and islands remain dedicated. “At ScottishPower, we’re committed to supporting women’s football at every level. “The entries to this competition from all clubs reveal the huge challenges faced by the grassroots football clubs in the Highlands and Islands when it comes to travel and logistics.
