A 14-year-old boy from Latrobe was fatally struck by a train Monday night in Hempfield, according to investigators. State police Trooper Steve Limani said an identification was made through a rapid DNA test. The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office early Tuesday sought help from the public to identify the victim. The coroner’s office hasn’t released the boy’s name. Authorities said the teen had been walking near the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks around 9 p.m., in the area of Roseytown and Berger roads, when an eastbound cargo train hit him.
