The National Union of Students Scotland has called on the Scottish Government to introduce a Student Housing Bill, warning that rising accommodation costs are leaving students struggling to manage their finances.
NUS Scotland president Justine Pedussel said students needed greater protection in the rented housing market.
Dipo, 27, a university student, said the shortage of available properties was adding to the pressure on those looking for somewhere to live.
He said: “There just isn’t enough accommodation for the number of students looking for places.
Bims, 25, a Glasgow Caledonian University student, said the cost of living remained a concern despite finding accommodation.
