AS PART of their UK City of Culture 2029 bid, Inverness-Highland has submitted Beò! Beò, the Gaelic for “alive” or “living,” reflects the Highlands’ cultural history showcasing its language, landscape and creativity. UK City of Culture Bid team outside Inverness Castle. Inverness-Highland will be competing against Wrexham, Swindon, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Milton Keynes, Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Blackpool for the City of Culture title. On the bid, The Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Education, Culture and Gaelic Màiri McAllan said: “I am pleased to confirm The Scottish Government’s strong support for the Inverness-Highland bid to be the UK City of Culture 2029.
